Where to Find Arabian Horse RDR2 and How to Tame It
In Red Dead Redemption 2, securing a high-performing mount can completely transform your traversal across the sprawling Western frontier. The Arabian horse breed stands out as one of the finest choices available, boasting exceptional speed, agility, and acceleration attributes. While some variants are purchased at urban stables, finding wild coats allows players to acquire elite steeds early without spending cash.
Locating the Wild Arabian Horses Across the Map
The most famous wild variant is the White Arabian, which resides exclusively near the snow-covered shores of Lake Isabella in the northwestern region of Ambarino. Players can spot this pristine creature blending into the frozen landscape as early as Chapter 2 after unlocking horse mechanics. Another wild option is the Red Chestnut Arabian, which roams the wilderness near Lake Owanjila west of Strawberry.

Approaching the Horse Without Spooking It
Wild Arabian horses are notoriously skittish and will bolt at the slightest hint of danger or fast movement. When you spot your target from a distance, dismount your current horse and move forward on foot at a very slow pace. Keep your eyes locked on the horse while holding the target button to study its behavior and monitor its calm meter.
Whenever the alert meter starts rising or the horse gets startled, stop moving completely and repeatedly press the calm button. Slowly bridge the gap until you reach the animal, which then unlocks the option to pat and gently mount it. Remaining patient during this initial approach prevents the horse from fleeing into rough terrain.
Mastering the Taming and Bucking Mechanics
Once you climb onto the horse's back, it will immediately attempt to buck you off in an effort to break free. To maintain your balance, pull down on the movement stick while counter-steering in the opposite direction of the horse's thrashing movements. For instance, if the animal veers sharply to the left, lean your character back and to the right to stay centered.
Continuing to press the calm button while steering helps settle the creature down much faster. Successfully breaking the mount marks the completion of the taming process.
Securing Your New Mount and Upgrading Stats
After successfully taming the Arabian, immediately remove the saddle from your previous horse and place it onto your new companion. Transferring the saddle officially designates the wild horse as your main mount, preventing it from despawning or wandering away. Riding it to the nearest stable enables you to customize equipment and purchase upgraded stirrups to maximize performance.
